And it’s not just mum who gets all the attention!

Wonderful venue, The Charing Cross Hotel.I thought I’d use the elegant interior of the hotel as a backdrop.
But despite the inclement weather we did manage to get outside.This was the naughty table. Well, there’s always one at every wedding.

Darren’s Grandad Rudi and the lovely Natania.And the first dance. It was such a wonderful day and I’m really privileged to have played a part in it.

Next was my felow RSPB member David Lindo aka the Urban Birder.  Writer, broadcaster, and bird guider, who showed us Londoners why looking up was infinitely preferable to looking at the pavement.

And last but not least was the highly entertaining Mark Bolitho, an Olympic master of paper folding.  Creator of the company Creaselightning, Mark has created intricate, beautiful paper art for film, TV and even advertising.  We made cranes and the world’s best paper aeroplane.

I had minimum space but we got some nice results, and let’s remember that 65% of what people remember from your Linkedin profile is your photo. We all spend tons on our marketing, our corporate identity, and our advertising, but how many supposed professionals have a photo taken on a mobile phone on their page? Quite a few as it happens!

The sets are exquisite and the colours stunning.

Simone combines her career as a singer and vocal coach, with that of a performance coach, helping people achieve excellence in their chosen field. She is an NLP Master Practitioner and her work focuses on the personal development aspect of performance, working with the individual to remove barriers to achievement and to develop effective ways of measuring goals and success. As a singer, Simone has performed globally working with artists such as Eddy Grant, Third World, Jeremy Healy and Richard Hawley.

Simone needed images to promote both her performance work and her more corporate side.

Simone’s first book “Coaching Artistry, A Guide To Performance Excellence” is due to be launched in early 2012.

Firstly we had John Foster telling us of scriptwriting and lost love using works of French New Wave and Wong Kar Wie to illustrate.

Then we had Lisa Appignanesi; a prize-winning writer, novelist and cultural commentator teaching us about the madness we call love.

And finally, the self confessed potty-mouthed poet Salena Godden was on hand to explain its enduring allure. Here are some of my snaps from the evening:

I was let into the property by the wonderful Pat and Katherine  who look after the property and are passionate about it and Spitalfields. Pat was a landlady there for years before retiring and is a fountain of knowledge on its history.

I urge you to check out the Landmark Trust. They own myriad incredible buildings over England, Scotland and Wales, and all are available to rent. How cool is that?

It’s a real draw for the swinging community…

This was Will Hobson who’s a bit of a polyglot and has written on inkblot tests from Rorschach to Redstone. 

This is Flexie Muiso, who was bringing human-beatboxing to the provinces. He makes a very convincing beatbox, it has to be said.And this is Robert Rowland Smith who can apply ethics, philosphy and other intelligent things to any subject, and took audience suggestions on amongst other things The Rugby World Cup and other less important stuff such as sex and death. He’s a bright lad.

And this is Helen being silly.

Knowing the couple and their friends extremely well enabled me to get a more intimate side of the subject matter and I think you can see this in the prep shots. This is Nat who is a pro make-up artist and friend of Anti.And this is Athene who was one of the bridesmaids.The finishing touches being the delicate blue flowers worn by the bride and bridesmaids.Roger and Anti in the 1930s Alvis.And this is Tori who is a professional harpist, in case you hadn’t guessed.A bit of technical stuff: the following shots were taken on my 85mm f1.2 lens. What an amazing piece of kit. Most of the shots I took were backlit and it handles the light beautifully.My mate Gina. Always wanted to get a good shot of her!The reception took place in a giant teepee which Anti and co had spent months preparing for with hand-made accoutrements on every table.Andy made a very emotional speech.Ever the decisive, Andy had only 6 best men…and there is no hiding at YOUR wedding. Look at him trying to cower!After Anti’s speech a surprise: pipers commemorating Andy’s Dad’s Scottish roots.

Unusually for a wedding the bride and groom advised that no gifts be given to them, but that donations be made to Bite Back charity as they are passionate about marine conservation.
